Custom fields groups
After you have created custom fields, you want to attach them in the add-edit article form so you can fill them when adding articles. For this to be able, it is necessary to create a custom fields group and add in the group the custom fields that you want to use in articles.
Even if you want to use just one custom field, it is necessary to create a custom fields group and add a field in this group.
The reason why custom fields are organized in groups is for easier management of custom fields and other functionalities they enable.
A same custom field can be added into more custom fields groups. If you, for example, have a custom field Price, you can add this field to, for example, custom fields group Real estates and custom fields group Cars since the price is necessary in both cases.
Also it is important to mention that the EasyDNNnews module can be used for different purposes on the same website. It can be used as a blog, but also as an engine for real estate, car catalogue and other on the same DNN portal. It is possible to do so, because every instance of the news module can be set with different settings so it is possible to have different content, layout and functionalities in each module instance.
How to create a custom fields group
Custom fields groups are created in Dashboard > Custom fields by clicking on the Manage Custom Fields button.
In the next screen you can add a new group. After adding the new group, this group will show up on the list of created groups. Click on Edit in front of the group name. In the next screen you will see a list of all the previously custom fields. Custom fields can be added to a group by clicking on Add to group.
Below the list of all available tokens there is the second list that displays which custom fields are already added in the group. Custom fields can be deleted from a group. By using the arrows, you can change the position of custom fields in a group. The position of custom fields in a group is important for order of custom fields when adding articles, when displaying articles (if the shared token is used) and in the EasyDNNnews Advanced Search module.
