Setting up the module (default and custom settings)

EasyDNNnews module's settings are organized into sections. Currently there are 20 sections containing various setup options. Thus, permissions are set up in section "1. Permissions", templates and themes are selected in section "6. Template and theme selection", and Google maps settings can be tweaked under section "20. Google maps setting".

A module can use settings valid for the entire portal, or it can have settings valid only for this particular instance. Thus we distinguish between:

default settings (portal settings)
custom settings (instance settings)

Default settings are settings valid across the entire portal. Changes in default settings affect changes for all instances using default settings. In order to prevent accidental changes of default settings, before setting them up click on the link "Enable default settings editing" at the top of the administrator's page for settings adjustment.

Custom settings are module settings valid only for that instance of the module they have been set for. In order to set your custom settings to an instance, it is necessary to select "Custom settings" at the top of administrator's page for settings adjustment.

While adjusting custom settings for an instance, it is not necessary to adjust each of the 20 sections. Some sections can use default settings (portal settings), whereas others can use Module instance settings. Module instance settings override default settings.

After adjusting the settings, it is necessary to save the changes. To save settings click on the button "Save settings" or "Save & close".

Export & import settings
At the bottom of the administrator's page for settings adjustment, there is the option "Export and import settings", which allows you to export your settings values. Settings exported in this way can be loaded by another instance of the module.

Enter a desired label for your settings, e.g. "Instance A" and click on the button "Export settings". Settings saved in this way will be available to be imported by all the other instances of the module. Settings of all the instances of the module will also be available to be imported, without a need to save them first.

Exported settings can be loaded by selecting the desired settings and clicking on the button "Import settings".

How to reach the administrator's page to adjust settings?

You can reach the administrator's page to adjust settings by clicking on "Manage" button (DNN6), from EasyDNNnews toolbar at the top of each instance of the module, or from EasyDNNnews Dashboard (Default settings and Module settings icons in the Dashboard).
